Track your WAM as you go
Your WAM is the number that matters for honours, scholarships, and many graduate programs in Australia. Because it's weighted by credit points, a heavier subject can shift it more than a lighter one.

Frequently asked questions
What is a WAM?
WAM stands for Weighted Average Mark. It's the credit-weighted average of your raw subject marks (out of 100), used by most Australian universities instead of a GPA.
How is WAM calculated?
Multiply each subject's mark by its credit points, add those up, and divide by the total credit points. Subjects with more credit points count more toward your WAM.
What WAM is a distinction?
At most Australian universities a Pass is 50-64, a Credit is 65-74, a Distinction is 75-84, and a High Distinction is 85+. Always check your university's exact bands.
Is WAM the same as GPA?
No. GPA uses grade points on a 4.0 (or 7.0) scale, while WAM averages your actual marks out of 100. If you need a GPA instead, use the GPA Calculator.
